OSC Controls

Many aspects of The Voxel, including lobby audio, work lights, and HVAC, can be cued using the Network Cue in QLab. Make a new Network Patch with the destination remote.voxel.org and port 5333.

System Operation

The Voxel’s production network is primarily handled by a Netgear ProSafe M4300-52G-PoE+ switch. The switch is designed to handle NDI, Dante, Art-Net, and other IP-based control technologies.

The switch features:

  • (48) 1-Gig PoE ports
  • >1000w of available PoE power

All network traffic (Dante, Art-Net, NDI) operates on one single network.

A Ubiquity Dream Machine handles The Voxel’s WiFi Access Points and acts as the DHCP server for the production network.

The Voxel's Internet service is provided by Comcast, with advertised speeds of 1000 Mbps down and 200 Mbps up. It generally works well but The Voxel is unable to remedy Comcast outages.

For reference, YouTube and other streaming services recommend upload speeds of 6 Mbps for streaming HD 1080p video at 30 fps.

Network Patches

The Voxel has wall-mounted Ethernet wall plates backstage, in the tech booths, and in the grid over the stage. Additional connections are available in the lobby and green room areas.

DHCP Reservations

These IPv4 addresses are reserved for specific devices on the network that may need to be accessed via web browser or OSC controls.
