Lancelot Chimera

Lancelot Chimera is an electroacoustic concerto for amplified bassoon and tape about games, the apocalypse, and transforming into something else. This is music about individuality and agency and the smell of the earth and good times.

Every Lancelot will be a perfect knight turned away by God at the threshold of the holy grail for the sin of adultery. Every Chimera will be created to rage into a multiplex of animal chaos. Every concerto is a confrontation between an individual and a mass, but what if these two bodies are the same?

The performance on February 28th will be recorded and filmed.

Photography and recording of the performance is allowed. Please make sure to turn off your flash/light and keep recording to a minimum - enjoy the show in the moment!

Running Time: 45 minutes with no intermission.

"Baltimore’s Mind on Fire offers a mind-bending alternative to traditional classical music performances." - Elizabeth Nonemaker, Baltimore Sun

Mind on Fire was founded in 2017 by a small contingent of classical and experimental musicians with a goal to bring new, contemporary classical music back to Baltimore. Mind on Fire takes notated music out of the conservatory and puts it into dialogue with the incredible, radical art ecology of the city. By pairing new classical work with local experimental artists (musicians, poets, dancers, filmmakers, and visual artists), it is our intention to engender a sense of community and camaraderie between a diverse group of art makers and the audiences who follow them.
